Everyone in Malaysia knows the word “Gostan”. Only Malaysian use ‘Gostan’ for reversing cars. Gostan actually comes from the English term, “go astern” or “go stern”. These terms are nautical terms, which means that people normally use them when they are on a ship or sailing. When you’re on a ship, you can’t really tell the person who steers the ship to go forward or backwards. Instead, you will have to tell them which part of the ship you want to move towards.
In this project, GOSTAN is a Traffic Accidents Information Centre that contains activities and education on how to prevent and deal with the aftermath of accidents. The aim of this project is to avoid and prevent accident in the first place and protect casualty from getting more harm.
There will be activities such as Accident Practice, Reaction Training, Crash Display, Focus Meditation and also Emergency Respond Training. The overall design of the space will be applying the concept of reverse and the design principle of contrast.
