CAT is a proposed design as a Clay Art Therapy area inside INTI International College Subang Campus. The idea of seeing a counsellor is a scary one for many people. Some people make the first appointment only to cancel because they become anxious at the thought of 'opening up' and talking to a stranger. Verbal counselling may be difficult for some people. When words are not enough, there is art. It can bypass human defense mechanisms to allow the expression of true feelings and thoughts. This project aims to help people who lack adequate language skills or have trouble expressing themselves verbally.

Art therapists have often intuited that introducing clay in art therapy sessions capitalizes on the unique characteristics of this tactile, highly sensory medium. First, there are a variety of somatosensory qualities of clay (Elbrecht, 2015) including the prominent experiences of touch and physicality. The self-soothing characteristics of clay may enhance self-regulation through interaction with the medium smoothing, pounding, building and shaping, among other ways clay can be manipulated and experienced. Even a light touch on a lump of clay leave an imprint. It is a symbol of one’s inner world. The clay that you touch feels like it belongs to you and only yours. Since every fingerprints are unique, only you can unlock and release your own emotions.
