Why is it called Stain A Life? Normally if we dye on fabric with natural ingredients, the colour wont be as smooth as synthetic dye. It will appeared like stain or spots here and there, so by naming this for the project I was hoping to give the natural kind of stain a new life and people will appreciate the beauty of it.
Textile dyeing is one of the most polluting aspects of the global fashion industry, devastating the environment and posing health hazards to humans. While textile production is the second largest water polluting industry in the world, it creates 20% of the global industrial water pollution. More specifically, every year approximately 9 trillion gallons of synthetic dye chemicals are dumped into global waterways.
This multipurpose space is designed not only to raise awareness of the public about the issue of synthetic dye, but also provides a space for fashion designers to make creations out of the natural dye. The concept of the project is low-poly. By using shapes and colours to reduce images to their most basic forms, the design retains the raw edges of the material and showcases its own beauty. The area I will have in this space will be focus on workshop, retail and café. I connect these area together because these are the most common places where people go. Just like my design concept, everything returns to the most primitive way of expression. With this, it is hoped to better connect with the public and expand the publicity channels more.
