Transition to deaf

Since hearing loss is an unpredictable moment for anyone, and the amount of time people use to grief is different, the concept of 'sometime' is chosen.

Sometime is a time in the future or the past that is not known or not stated. The past is leave to cherish memories and get over the grief while the future is to create memories and have preparations to face any obstacles. All of these happen in one time, which is sometime. The subject matter that I use is timeline. The line represents the life journey of a person with dots representing the moment or memories of life event.

Here are some of the sketches that I explore from the subject matter. The shapes of timeline design are mostly uniform and it is differentiate by sizes and colours. Some of these sketches will be applied into the space planning and layout design later. The 6 principles of consideration for of deaf spaces including acoustic migator, way finding, accumulators, lighting, crossing and sight lines to be apply into the overall space to create a deaf friendly environment. It is also hoped that by going through this space, the visitors will be able to see the merits of a deaf-friendly space, and will adopt such designs into future buildings, making a better future for deaf people all around.
